some green happiness today....

qilora i was able to take a break (of a couple hours) and play with my microscope...
today i looked a couple samples from my cultures of "spirulina" and "euglena".... managed to get a handful of fotos and even make a couple videos, that show that not only are my euglena darting around like maniacs, but my spirulina actually moves around itself (that is a surprise for me)..

when i googled the spirulina, i found its motion being described as "gliding" or "turning the screw"..
as to the euglena, i had a VERY hard time catching any fotos of them (they zip too fast), but i was able to get a few of them as they rolled themselves into balls (and spin a bit) as they swallowed up a microorganism (the euglena are omnivorous, eat protozoa/bacteria as well as use their chloroplast to make their own food)...
