i started to post into the class (let's hope she gives me credit), tomorrow i am going to start making the final presentation...

i also have started to read the textbook on the next class (Environmental Toxicology); it is so ironic, to be reading much more advanced and complicated writings (i.e. human physiology, the metabolizing of chemical compounds, etc) is actually a bit comforting compared to just reading the history of laws/Acts/proposals...

i managed to also get a bit of walking in tonight, but did trip and fall (i'm okay, btw)...
i made Tony kiss me tonight, and promise that he will still love me if i get a C in the law-class... thank G-d, the class will be over SOON.

first, of course, i need to talk about school.... i finished the second chapter that we are required to read next week (week #5, it will begin this coming Tuesday)... so i basically spent this Winter Break reading chapters 9 & 10, but no worries, i spread out the reading into little sections (much less stress), and you know me, i spent most of my time taking loooong "sewing breaks"....

about RG, i had posted last night about some old fotos i took almost exactly one year ago (it was 2017-01-13)... Tony had brought me a tiny piece of empty wasp's nest that he found in the backyard (attached to the wooden, unpainted fence).... when i was looking at the nest, under my microscope, i notice a very faint yellowish/orangish dusting; and when i zoomed in (increasing the magnification) i saw these gorgeous *tiny* orange colored sporangia and very light colored sporangiophores:

today 2 doctors of Botany saw my posting, and gave me links to an RG-site article, and asked a couple questions about what is visible under the microscope.... reading the article mentioned that there are Mucor nidicola sp. fungi that follow around the paper wasp; and apparently this is very possible to be the fungus i saw....

i went ahead and cleared the dining room table today, and tomorrow i am going to try and view the sample of the nest and see if i can find out any new information on the fungus.... okay, that's what's happening at the RG-site...

onto my other "pondering".... i feel really unsure if i should bother posting any more of my discussions about our in-house conversations/daily-diaries.... i used to go ahead and do this over at LJ, but that was "back in the day"; before the Russians bought LJ, before LJ was turned into a ghost-town (thanks to Facebook)... and back when my friends at LJ were actually friends of mine, but most of the people i am hooked up with via Dreamwidth are still "new" to me, and i am worried that they won't understand what i am writing, and i am also a little nervous that my writings can be taken and used in their own writings (esp. Slash-authors).... so i am still at one of those infamous cross-roads...

have to just think about it for a while..

i think i have finally recovered from that Law-class (unfortunately, the class still has one week left)..... i am convinced i will be able to finish ch. 10 by tomorrow night, this gives me 2 days of "free time", and i will be able to spend that last week just talking with the class (getting credit for participation) and working on the last presentation...  i also hope to be able to begin reading the textbook of the next class a little early (which would be a *huge* blessing, week #1 of every class is HELL with the amount of chapters they require the students to read)...

another happy thing that happened tonight was when i started a discussion at the RG-site:
 https://www.researchgate.net/post/Finding_the_taxonomical_identity_of_a_fungus

i had posted pictures i took of a fungus on a wasp's nest.. i had taken those fotos over a *year* ago and have not been able to find out what the hell fungus this was (and couldn't find ANY-one who recognized the fungus either)... i put up that discussion 2 hrs. ago and ONE hr. ago, a fellow-researcher gave me a RG-link (to an article) that is helping me *immensely*.... i *love* this RG-site!!

i have to confess though, i was part of a debate tonight ;) ..... some Economics/Philosophy researchers were discussing whether it was "money" or "philosophy" that was in control of "quality of life"..... i argued that *both* are necessary.... that we civilized urban humans have need for money to survive this modern industrialized world, but it that our own personal philosophies would define our QOL regardless of the amount of money that we have in our possession...... kvetching from both sides of the argument, but i'm not complaining, it was a hoot ;)

need to go unwind for a bit.

i've read the first 15 pgs. of ch. 9....  i will be able to finish the second part of it tomorrow, but not going to start the ch. 10 until Sat./Sun...
got a usual amount of power-walking done, and a little bit of sewing...

yesterday, my gf Cheryl (from Services for the Blind) brought several boxes of books, and a bag of clothes for Tony.. the rabbits were VERY excited to investigate the new boxes, but their daddy went ahead and emptied the boxes (shelving the books) and tossing the empty bits of cardboard which ended up with Sasha and Herschel throwing temper tantrums for most of today... hey shoved this one toy-box that does belong to them and you would not believe how far they pushed that damn box around the living room today, it was driving me CRAZY.... and Herschel kept running into the dining room and doing his imitation of "Bam Bam" from the Flintstones (using his little ball that has the bells inside of it)....

time to unwind.

i have had 4 days or so of complete rest... i've been doing nothing but sewing and reading over at Research Gate (and uploading a handful of my own projects)... but i think i've reached the stage where i want to get back to reading the Law class' textbook (will start the book tomorrow), but i'm going to make it a point to take my time and not rush with the reading....

this house is a place of much angst... this morning Sasha (female bunny) was acting a bit "icky", she sounds a little phlegmy to me, and refused to take a cracker from her father (so he was inconsolable *all* day).. but after her nap, she ate crackers and ran around the house with her brother (Herschel).... honestly, i think it might just be allergies, her ears feel perfectly normal... i'm a little worried that she might be getting phlegmy from the crickets' shells... so i hope that our new lizard (that is having a fiesta) will put a damper on her reaction.. i am also cleaning the floor at least once a week, and plan to get an air filter to keep downstairs (but i might have to wait for the Pell Grant before i can afford this)...

time to go get ready for bed, need to play a bit of mahjong to "unwind", before i take the screen-shots from the satellites...

today was a day of sewing and chatting at Research Gate (about the "male & female" principles, i.e. rationale and intuition)...
also got in a bit of walking... tomorrow is another day of rest (i have yet a week of no school!) and i hope to get a bit of reading done as well..

last night i handed in a *very* late paper for week #4 (of environmental law), let us HOPE she gives me at least a 70, but i have no idea if this teacher is going to let me pass this class...

i discovered "Research Gate" a few days ago when i was googling on Facebook, and looking to see if i could find anyone discussing how that website is having a detrimental affect on the general intelligence of the users.... i was able to read a conversation that was taking place at the Research Gate site, and joined the site myself so that i could send a message to one of the site-members..

i am striking up quite a friendship with the woman (Gloria) that i sent that message to... but i am still pretty clueless in how to use the site.... so far i managed to upload 3 of my "projects": Observation of the Arctic Ice-Sheet, Observation of the Antarctic Ice-Sheet, Observation of Nuuk Greenland.

so far 2 people have come across my projects and i have "recommendations" from them both (pretty cool!)

didn't get any walking in today, much sewing (have to show the pic tomorrow, i'm already in bed...
time to go rest.

me and Tony were able to get out of the Christmas dinner with the family, we just used my still feeling a bit "blah" from a seizure i had a couple days ago.... but the end of the day found me feeling basically fine, i just read various articles about overfishing and tried to brainstorm a bit... i've already warned hubby that it will only be much classical-music tomorrow (no TV shows), i need to be in no-voices mode in order to do ANY writing...

i am really taking my time on this damn paper... seeing as the disability advisor told me that i have no problem handing in a paper 4 days after its original due-date (meaning instead of Monday, i can hand it in on Thurs.), i am NOT going to rush a single *sentence*...

mind you, i am only taking advantage of Winter Break (it started yesterday), so i have a lot of free time, don't need to be doing reading/assignments of week #5...

i had a grand mal yesterday, so i spent all day monday AND today, like a lump.... couldn't think very clearly, felt icky, and just spent most of my time sewing....  i sent the teacher a letter letting her know that i had a seizure, and haven't been working on the paper, and let her know that i won't upload it until wednesday (but seriously, i am not rushing, might even upload it on thursday)....

i've totally given up on "pushing myself" for this class.. i will probably get a C.... i don't care anymore.

no walking today, i just didn't have the energy..
hopefully i will be able to feel more awake tomorrow..

was able to write an outline for week #5's presentation on "Energy Policies and Natural Resources"... not sure if my teacher will like the look of this outline but i wrote it to make sense to me...

i also found an interesting question in a forum at ResearchGate.. i went ahead and joined the page just so i could communicate with the woman who had started that conversation ("Gloria")... she made references to the members at facebook acting as though they were rats getting rewards (pressing a lever allowing them to get a snack).... it seems that the users of FB act like they get little rushes of endorphins (i think that dopamine is a part of this, too), whenever they flip through and paste a multitude of memes... the number of their "likes" is definitely adding to the rushes...

i hope she get's the message i sent her after i read this... i pointed out that the cognitive-damage that she was addressing is probably also tied to their attachment to their "smart phones".... let's see if she writes me back. :)

i also managed to finish all this work by 10.30 and able to get a bit of walking in (and a little sewing too)...

now it is time to rest..

sewed all day, and brainstormed on the paper of hazardous waste... i will write the drafts tomorrow and hopefully i'll be able to edit/upload it but i am feeling a bit optimistic about that (the word count limit is only 350-700)...

something interesting that popped up in conversation today was just in-house chit-chat.. a Schubert song was playing on the classical-masterpieces channel (on TV)... Jonathan smiled and said "i always loved Schubert, one of my favorite composers, but i'm not sure why"....

so of course all of us present had to add our 2 shekels.... Seamus immediately said Mozart (NO surprise), Wesley smirked and said that he bet it was because Mozart was so orderly and nearly pompous (Seamus refused to laugh at this, but i knew he wanted to haha).... Wesley claimed Chopin is his favorite, "simple, elegant, much 'space' around the notes," and of course, piano being Wesley's instrument.... Jules claimed Beethoven (a passionate artist, again, no surprise)...

when it came to me i confessed Bach (yes, i smirked).... i saw Seamus roll his eyes a bit, he isn't really into Bach if it is played on harpsichord, it sound to "messy" to him... but that is what i love of the sounds, proof that there is harmony in chaotic systems....

here are a few pics of recent sewing, but no power-walk (been too busy with school)..
time to take my satellite screen-shots and go to sleep...

i managed to get thru the 25 pgs. of toxic chemical risk & assessment (it was HELL)..
i did manage to get a couple sewing "breaks" (see below), as well as able to save all the satellite screen shots, AND my power-walking (almost 2,000 steps actually)....

this entire time i was doing the usual bi-locating... the men usually "baby sit" for me if they are around and i have a lot of schoolwork to do, but today it was a little different.... Jules and Wesley wanted to go down to the sea, and Seamus wanted to go with them..... usually Melody skips along, side by side, with her 3 fathers, but not today... she decided to stay behind and play with her siblings (both babies were awake, not napping).... i agreed that she could stay behind IF she was a good girl and let mommy do her schoolwork.. (she was mostly focused on the babies, so it all worked out)...

but i was around 1/2 finished with the reading when she came to me and said that she wanted to change her name from Melody to a Hebrew name that meant the same thing... i just asked her "okay sweetheart, but to be honest, i have to google the computer a bit.. i don't know the Hebrew translation yet".... she very patiently let me go back to my reading after promising her that we would look it up in an hour or so....

Google gave us a handful of words but Melody refused a lot of them because of the gender of the words (obviously), i suggested that we just pick one of the words and alter the gender, but she would have none of it... but she read a word "Neh'ima" that means "tune, melody, tone, descant" -- i had to pause when i saw that last word (i had to make sure it didn't mean anything "ugly"), but once i read that the word generally referred to a rather soprano form of music sang in hymns/chants... the word also is used to describe a rather "loquacious" person, but Melody actually got a kick out of that..

she lowered her face just a smidge and smirked "i *do* talk a lot, ima" (making fun of herself), but as per usual i popped into mommy-mode "oh honey, but we LOVE that you ramble like you do, your words mean so much to us!"... Wesley had once told her "you are just sharing a large part of yourself verbally... we *need* those words" (his major was English Lit., i'm surprised he doesn't follow her around with a tape recorder)...

(not really) only have 1 slide left to do, and then will edit the entire file and get right  to work reading the next chapter in the textbook, and will hopefully be able to post to the class 2 or 3 times...

also hope that the team-leader will put things in order tomorrow so i can get  to work designing my portion of the team's project..

JUST ONE WEEK to get through, then we'll have 2 weeks off from school.... i originally had planned to study Python (esp. in data visualization) during the break, but i have no choice but to go ahead and read/plan more of this Law class....

all i have to do is pass this class. (baruch Hashem!)...

i worked on school's assignment for about 11 hours today, but also finished sewing the little house and get my walking done (when i took breaks), today wasn't a total loss:

read 33 pages, and managed to not pull out any hair, but wasn't able to post in the classroom at all....
tomorrow, i have to post at least 3 times to the class and get the worksheet filled out (i think i'll be okay)....

on monday i have to put together a presentation, i have NO idea if i'll be able to finish it or might have to drag it thru to tues...
either way, i don't freakin care haha
i have to be honest, this is NOT one of my favorite classes... i am just praying to pass.

as for my sewing, i'm on day 3 of painting the little house, and i'll probably be able to finish it in a couple of days:

still only doing about a thousand steps a day in the power-walking.. but i am starting to feel that it is simply easier to get from start to finish (without sweating my brains out), so i guess i am getting stronger BH :)

it was one of those days.... the kind where i am grateful from my achy-sore knees that i have to thank G-d for being given extra time to write these papers for classes..... i tried to talk with the teacher (in private message) and also posted to the class once and had to sit here, feeling like my face was beet-red from embarrassment (i'm glad the class can't lay eyes on me)...

it would have been so much convenient if this was an English class, esp. if were were studying e.e. cummings or Joyce... in that case i could pass off my writing as a vain attempt to speak in a phantasmagoric prose... but instead this is a LAW CLASS, and i am praying that i was speaking lucid, and that i typed legibly...

i am in a let-go/let-gawd moment.

i am still working on WHAT this recent paper should focus on, but i am really close to zeroing in on the "Safe Drinking Water Act of 1974" (any mention of "water", and i can never seem to escape it)

here is my sewing for today:

and now i am back to Google, and hope to stash some more info for the law-paper...
